Welcome to the website of Suret il-Bniedem Foundation, a foundation of the Maltese Franciscan Minor Capuchin Province. At Suret il-Bniedem we share and participate in the Franciscan charism and operate in accordance with Franciscan values, thus being open to those persons who are most isolated, vulnerable, voiceless and marginalised in our society.
Our mission is to provide comprehensive support including residential care and all-embracing psychosocial support for homeless individuals, helping them transition from homelessness to independent living. We strongly believe that everyone deserves a safe place to call home and access to the resources they need to rebuild their lives.
Our foundation offers safe and secure residential care facilities for homeless individuals and those suffering from mental health challenges. These facilities are more than just shelters; they are places of hope and healing where residents can stabilize and start to rebuild their lives. Our compassionate staff provides 24/7 support, ensuring that each resident’s basic needs are met.
Since our inception, twenty five years ago, Suret il-Bniedem has helped countless individuals live a dignified life in spite of mental health and social problems. It also helped a good number of individuals transition out of homelessness. Our residents have gone on to lead fulfilling lives, secure stable employment, and become active members of their communities. We are proud of the positive impact we have made and are fully committed to continuing this important work.
Our vision for the future is ambitious yet achievable. We aim to enhance our programmes by constantly evaluating them and improving on them to ensure they meet the evolving needs of our residents. We are committed to continue building on our strong partnerships with the Ministry of Social Policy and Children’s Rights, the Ministry of Health and Active Ageing, local businesses, and other organisations in order to expand and strengthen the support services we offer in view of the ever-changing needs within our society.
Beyond the direct services we offer, we are also intent on advocating for policy changes that would address the root causes of homelessness. We invite you to join us in this and in our mission to provide opportunity, dignity and hope to the homeless.
